Khalin Joshi, bless his determined heart, somehow wrestled his third win of the season at the Nava Raipur Open, proving that not even Neptune’s most dramatic tantrum can deter a golfer with a serious case of the winning bug. The Chhattisgarh monsoon, you see, proved to be less of an obstacle and more of a damp, inconvenient inconvenience for a man who’s apparently figured out how to stay zen while the sky is actively trying to drown him.

His flag-to-wire performance was less a masterclass and more a survival guide for playing golf in a swamp. With four days of play somehow crammed into nine holes thanks to the relentless rain, and a suspension long enough to make you wonder if the whole thing was just a collective fever dream, Joshi showed the kind of calm I usually reserve for when I find a forgotten tenner in my jeans. The thought of the final round getting scuttled must have been mighty tempting for some, a glorious get-out-of-damp-jail-free card.

But nope. Joshi, ever the professional, decided to actually, you know, play. “I had to regain my focus and prepare mentally in case play resumed,” he said, a statement that makes me picture him calmly sipping tea while everyone else is wrestling crocodiles. Meanwhile, I’d probably be contemplating a career change to professional umbrella holder. He then went ahead and birdied three holes in a row, which, if you’re keeping score, is a rather neat way to seal a one-stroke victory.

This makes it three wins this year, adding to his collection from Andhra and Jammu & Kashmir. For those who get their kicks from golf trivia, it’s his ninth on the DP World PGTI circuit. You have to wonder if his 2018 Asian Tour win feels like a hazy, youthful indiscretion now, a distant memory before the serious business of collecting trophies in the rain began.

His nearest rivals, Om Prakash Chouhan, Anshul Patel, and Raunil Kumar, all finished a single shot back. Chouhan, in particular, managed a joint-low round on the day, a rather impressive late surge that probably made him sweat even more than the humidity. And as for Kukar and Patel, well, they’ve officially dodged the dreaded Qualifying School for 2027. I bet that felt about as good as finding the last slice of pizza.

Joshi, when asked about his newfound peace, mumbled something about a “present-focused approach.” Apparently, his brain, which I’m picturing as a tiny hamster on a wheel during a bad round, has now switched to a leisurely stroll. Next up, he’s heading back to his old stomping grounds at the Karnataka Golf Association course, with his girlfriend on the bag. Let's just hope she's got a good sense of humor, a sturdy umbrella, and a willingness to talk about anything other than the golf.

He’s got his sights set on the DP World India Championship at the Delhi Golf Club, a place that apparently means something special to him. It’s like the man’s charting his own course through the wild, wet world of professional golf, aiming for more glory and, let’s be honest, probably a decent pair of dry socks.
